Sunday, June 4, 2023 - Depart Chicago: Today we will depart from O’Hare Airport enroute to Dublin. Meals will be served as appropriate during the overnight flight.
Monday, June 5 - Dublin / Glendalough / Waterford: Upon arrival in Dublin we will meet the Tour Manager who will accompany us until our departure from Ireland. We immediately begin our exploration of this beautiful country as we depart Dublin and travel to the 6th-century Glendalough monastic site. Located in County Wicklow, Glendalough is widely renowned for its stunning scenery and sacred atmosphere. Early this afternoon we will gather for Mass at St. Kevin’s Church before departing the area. If time permits, we will stop this afternoon in New Ross to visit the Dunbrody Famine Ship before continuing to our hotel in Waterford for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Tuesday, June 6 - Waterford / Cobh / Blarney / Killarney: A full day of sightseeing brings us first to the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre. Next, we travel to the seaport town of Cobh, the departure point for millions of Irish emigrants traveling to the New World. Cobh was the last port of call for the Titanic as she stopped here to pick up mail and passengers on her voyage to the USA in 1912. After our visit to Cobh, we will drive the short distance to Blarney where we have time to visit the castle and woollen mills. Later we will proceed to our hotel in Killarney for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Wednesday, June 7 - Killarney (Ring of Kerry): We will spend today exploring the spectacular Ring of Kerry. Known throughout the world for its beautiful cliffs, harbors, valleys and rugged coastline, the Ring of Kerry is one of Ireland’s most visited areas. Rest stops, picture stops, and a lunch stop will take place along the route. Our day of sightseeing will end late this afternoon with a visit to Muckross House and Gardens, the centerpiece of Killarney National Park. We will then return to Killarney for an evening at leisure. Be sure to visit some of the local establishments featuring the live music and friendly atmosphere for which Ireland is famous! (B)
Thursday, June 8 - Killarney / Adare / Bunratty: This morning we will drive to Adare, considered one of Ireland’s prettiest villages. We will have some free time to explore the village before proceeding to Bunratty for a visit to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Late this afternoon we transfer to our hotel in nearby Ennis to check in and prepare for this evening’s special dinner. Tonight we will enjoy a festive Medieval Banquet at Bun- ratty Castle. (B, SD)
Friday, June 9 - Cliffs of Moher / Galway: After breakfast this morning, we will depart Bunratty and drive to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. We have some free time to explore the cliffs and marvel at the beautiful views before continuing our journey via the lunar-like landscape of The Burren region to Galway for a panoramic tour of the city. If scheduling permits, we plan to celebrate Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in nearby Moycullen before proceeding to our Galway hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Saturday, June 10 - Knock / Croagh Patrick /Kylemore Abbey / Connemara: Today begins with a drive through the County Mayo countryside, getting views (from afar) of Croagh Patrick - a popular mountain pilgrimage site, as we proceed toward the Connemara Region. We will have an opportunity to look down on Killary harbour – Ireland’s only fjord, before arriving at beautiful Kylemore Abbey. Later this afternoon we continue to Knock, where we will gather for Mass. After Mass we will return to our hotel in Galway for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Sunday, June 11 - Drumcliffe / Belleek / Derry: A full day of traveling takes us north through the countryside of W. B. Yeats, passing by his burial place at Drumcliffe and Ben Bulben, the mountain that gave him so much inspiration. This afternoon we will visit Belleek, famous for its Irish pottery, before arriving in Derry, Northern Ireland, for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Monday, June 12 - Derry area: After breakfast, we will meet our local city guide and embark on a walking tour of Derry. Highlights include the Guildhall, the historic city walls, and the O’ Doherty Tower. This afternoon we will visit one of the area’s most popular attractions. Possibilities include beautiful Glenveagh National Park and Castle, or perhaps Doagh Famine Village for a look at Irish life from the Great Famine of the 1840’s through present day. Late this afternoon we return to our hotel in Derry for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Tuesday, June 13 - Derry / Bushmills / Belfast: Today begins with a visit to the famous Giant’s Causeway. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986, the coastal area of 40,000 unique basalt columns has become one of Ireland’s most popular attractions. Late this morning we will continue to the town of Bushmills, where we have some free time for lunch before continuing our journey to Belfast. If time permits, we will travel along the scenic coast road with its picturesque glens and coastal villages. Upon arrival in Belfast, we will enjoy a brief orientation tour of the city before proceeding to our hotel for check-in and dinner. (B, D)
Wednesday, June 14 - Downpatrick / Armagh / Dublin: Today begins with a visit to Downpatrick, a city closely associated with St. Patrick. Here we will have time for visits to the St. Patrick Centre, Down Cathedral, and St. Patrick’s grave. Next we continue to Armagh, a city unique because of its two cathedrals – both built on hills and both named after St. Patrick. Late this afternoon we will arrive in Dublin and proceed to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
Thursday, June 15 - Dublin: This morning we will embark on our tour of Dublin – the Capital of Ireland and also its largest city. Highlights include St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, and the Papal cross in the Phoenix Park. The remainder of the afternoon is free for individual sightseeing and shopping. This evening we will enjoy dinner and entertainment at the Merry Ploughboys Pub. Overnight in Dublin. (B, SD)
Friday, June 16 - Dublin / Chicago: This morning we will transfer to Dublin Airport to begin our journey home. We will arrive at O’Hare Airport this afternoon. Welcome Home!
